Rick led the firm's west coast investment activities, managed day-to-day operations, and oversaw portfolio management for the first five Lighthouse investment partnerships. He continues to manage Lighthouse's fourth and fifth investment partnerships in conjunction with the firm's partners.

At Lighthouse, Rick sponsored over 100 investments including Netflix, SuccessFactors, nVidia, Riverbed, Omneon, Tabula, Broadvision, Ariba, Portal Software, RedBack, and Foundry Networks.

Prior to co-founding Lighthouse in June 1994, Rick was a Senior Vice President with Comdisco Ventures, where he co-directed and co-managed West Coast investment activities since 1988. While at Comdisco, he led the firm's investments in Synopsys, Spectrum Holobyte, Illustra, Visio, Aspect Development, Edify, and Tularik.
